3rd Grade Unit 2 The Ugly Duckling
My 3rd graders have been reading the story "The Ugly Duckling" retold by Sharon Fear. They have been learning about using vocabulary in context and the present and past tense of regular verbs. Today, we finished reading the story. The kids created a story map flapbook, where they wrote and drew pictures about the character, setting, and problem. I think they did an awesome job!
5th Grade Unit 2 Akiak
5th graders just finished reading the story "Akiak" by Robert J. Blake. They learned new vocabulary and applied it using context clues. Additionally they were able to distinguish fiction from nonfiction. Currently they are learning about prefixes, suffixes, and base words. The also saw some videos related to the Iditarod Race in Alaska. Today, they worked on a story map flapbook. Here's the finished product.
