3rd Grade, Unit 4 5Ws Nonfiction

After reading about "King Tut:  The Face of a King", students answered 5W questions using picture clues.  They also had to complete the face of  King Tut on a given activity.  They did an amazing job!

4th Grade Unit 3, Story "The Hungry Spider"

My 4th graders have begun to read the story "The Hungry Spider".  Before reading the story, the new vocabulary words were introduced.  They have also been learning about the 4 types of sentences:  declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative.  Next week they will be learning about adjectives.

5th Grade Unit 4 "Cendrillon"

5th graders will begin to read the story "Cendrillon".  In order for them to get background knowledge about the setting, Martinique, we read a selection from the textbook called "The Island of Martinique".  Later, they saw a video about Martinique.  They had to pay close attention, because they were going to compare and contrast Martinique to Puerto Rico.  They really enjoyed the activity, and they were surprised to learn that we had some things in common to Martinique.

After finishing the story "Cendrillon', students created a flapbook project.  In first flapbook, they had to draw pictures of what happened first, next, then, and last.  In another flapbook, they compared and contrasted the story to a short "Cinderella" video.

4th Grade Story Dogzilla File Folder Activity

4th graders worked on a special in-class assignment related to the story "Dogzilla".  They had to cut and glue each story element to the correct answer on a file folder.  Then, they had to draw a picture of the story on the cover of the file folder. They did a terrific job on the assignment!
