2nd Grade Unit 2.2

After listening to the story "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", 2nd graders wrote the letters of the Alphabet in an Alphabet tree.  They really enjoyed the story and the activity!

3rd Grade Unit 1 Syllabication

I love to use flapbooks in the classroom.  We can use flapbooks for practically any skill, and the kids really enjoy making them.  Today the 3rd graders created flapbooks for syllables.  They read each word and classified it under the correct flap.  Amazing job, 3rd graders!







5th Grade Unt 1 My Dream for Puerto Rico Update

5th graders finished their assessment where they had to make connections text to self.  They had to write "My Dream for Puerto Rico".  They all had great ideas!  Awesome job, 5th graders!

4th Grade Family Flag Finished Product

Here's the finished product the 4th graders made.  They had to do an assessment titled My Family Flag, where they had to write about their family and design a family flag.  They really had fun with this activity.

4th Grade My Family Flag

After finishing the story "The Keeping Quilt", the kids will make conncections text to self  by creating a family flag.  They will also write about their family members.  Finished product will be posted soon!

  • 2nd Grade - test on Wednesday, Sept. 18 on feelings and cognates 
  • 5th Grade - test on Wednesday, Sept. 18, story "Happy Birthday, Dr. King!" and homophones
  • 6th Grade - test on Thursday, Sept. 19 on comparative and superlative adjective forms

4th Grade Unit 1 5Ws

5W Questions is the topic we have been covering.  After completing the story "The Keeping Quilt", my 4th graders made connections text to self, by writing what tradition they celebrated with their family on a graphic organizer.  Most of the kids chose celebrating Christmas as a family tradition.  Next, the kids will be designing a family flag.






Preguntas de información es el tema que estamos cubriendo.  Luego de terminar el cuento, los estudiantes formaron conecciones con el texto y si mismo, escribiendo un organizador gráfico sobre una tradición que celebran con su familia.  La mayoria de los estudiantes escogieron la Navidad como una tradición familiar.  Proximamente, los estudiantes estaran diseñando una bandera familiar.

6th Grade Unit 1 Character Traits

After reading "La Bamba", the kids identified the main character from the story and had to write 4 character traits that demonstrated how Manuel acted throughout the story.  The kids came up with great drawings and character traits!  Great job you guys!! 






Luego de leer el cuento "La Bamba" los estudiantes identificaron el pesonaje principal del cuento y escribieron 4 características de como Manuel actuó a través del mismo.  Los niñ@s crearon unos dibujos fantásticos y mencionaron buenas características!   ¡Buen trabajo chicos!

2nd Grade Unit 1 Feelings Spin Chart

Today's activity consisted of the students spinning the Feelings Chart and showing the emotion that it landed on.  They also had to say and write one complete sentence for each feeling.



La actividad de hoy consistió en que los estudiantes tenian que dar vueltas al gráfico y luego demostrar la emoción en donde cayera.  Tambien, tenian que decir la emoción y escribir una oración.

6th Grade Unit 1 Comparative/Superlative

Using Adjective Forms (Comparative/Superlatives) with suffix -er and -est.




Utilizando formas de adjectivos (comparativos/superlativos) con sufijos -er, -est.

3rd Grade Unit 1 Roberto Clemente Timeline

The 3rd graders completed their special in-class assessments "Roberto Clemente Timeline".  The assessment consisted of following oral instruction and sequence of events, according to the story they had previously read in class.  The kids really had fun with the activity, and their work was exceptional!

                                                        
                                                                 
Los niñitos de 3er grado ya terminaron su trabajo especial titulado "Roberto Clemente Timeline".  El mismo consistía en seguir instrucciones orales y órden de sucesos según el cuento leído en clase. Los estudiantes le disfrutaron mucho la actividad y su trabajo fue de excelencia. 

2nd Grade Unit 1 Skill Feelings/Emotions


2nd graders started working on feelings/emotions today.  They listened to a read aloud for the story "There's an Alligator Under My Bed" by Mercer Mayer where the students had to tell which feelings or emotions the boy from the story was showing. They really liked the story! Later, they completed a handout where they had to write which feeling or emotion each face represented. 
                                      


En 2do grado se comenzó a trabajar con las emociones.  Los estudiantes escucharon el cuento "There's An Alligator Under My Bed" por Mercer Mayer, en donde los estudiantes tenían que decir cuales emociones el niño del cuento estaba mostrando.  ¡Disfrutaron mucho del cuento!  Luego, completaron un ejercicio el cual tenían que escribir la emoción que representaba cada carita.

6th Grade Adjectives

My 6th graders worked on identifying adjectives in sentences.  Divided into small groups, students had to underline the adjectives in a sentence and write the answer on the mini whiteboard. They also had to discuss their answers within their group, and later on show their answers to the rest of the class. The kids really enjoyed this activity!



Mi grupo de 6to trabajaron en identificar adjetivos en oraciones.  En grupos pequeños, los estudiantes subrayaban los adjetivos en la oración y luego escribian el adjetivo en la mini pizarar blanca.  De verdad que se diviritieron mucho!
