2nd Grade Unit 2.2 Where Are We

2nd graders have started with unit 2.2 Where are we.  They are learning new vocabulary words related to landforms and identifying these on a map of our island.

After reading the story "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle, students did a foldable activity where they drew pictures of the story organization Beginning, Middle, and End.

Through the story, they learned about the four seasons.  They did an accordion foldable showing what happens in each season.  They really loved and enjoyed this activity!

Recently, we've begun to read the story "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Joffe Numeroff.  The kids learned and practiced the vocabulary words.  They also learned about context clues.  Here's a cute foldable they did using the vocabulary words from the story.

3rd Grade Unit 2 Ugly Duckling

After completing the storymap flapbook, 3rd graders worked on story organization.  They had to arrange the events of the story in beginning, middle, and end on a pie chart and on a strip.
